Written and directed by Kristian Gabriel, Touch follows a troubled young woman struggling with other people and with herself. She discovers that when she makes a wish, she can bring it into reality by touching another person—but the fulfillment of those wishes ultimately ends in death.

Touch was Kevin Church’s first film as a producer and the project from which AHiP Pictures—the forerunner of AHiP Media—was born. Church and Gabriel formed AHiP Pictures as producing partners to make the short film together.

In addition to producing the film, Church served as its online editor, colorist, and re-recording sound mixer, helping carry the project through both picture and sound finishing. The production established the multidisciplinary working model that would continue through AHiP Media’s later documentary and post-production work.

Although Touch never received a formal commercial release, it screened at several small film festivals. Its lasting importance lies in what it began: the creative partnership and production company that became AHiP Media.

Directed by Hrag Yedalian, The People’s Advocate: The Life & Times of Charles R. Garry documents the career of the renowned civil-rights and criminal-defense attorney who devoted his life to representing people and political movements that frequently had no other advocate.

Garry became nationally known for defending leaders of the Black Panther Party, including Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. Later in his career, he represented Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple. The 1978 Jonestown massacre devastated Garry and cast a tragic shadow over the final chapter of his public life.

Kevin Church served as executive producer, online editor, colorist, and re-recording mixer. Working closely with Yedalian, Church helped create the finished visual character and sonic presentation of the documentary.

The film features interviews with people who knew Garry and understood the political struggles surrounding his work. Among its most significant voices is historian Howard Zinn, whose thoughtful contribution deserves particular recognition.

Directed by longtime collaborator David J. Markey, The Reinactors documents the lives of the movie-character impersonators and celebrity look-alikes working along Hollywood Boulevard.

Kevin Church produced the film through AHiP Media and served as its re-recording sound mixer. Working with an extremely limited budget, AHiP supplied cameras, lighting, production resources, editorial support, and the personnel required to carry the project from production through final post-production.

The collaboration grew from Church and Markey’s creative relationship, which dates back to the mid-1980s. Before The Reinactors, Church digitally remastered the We Got Power Films catalog while developing his online-editing and color-correction work. When Markey proposed the documentary, AHiP assembled the production and post-production team—including production assistants, editors, and sound designers—and provided much of the technical infrastructure that allowed the film to be completed.

The Reinactors had its world premiere at the 2008 International Film Festival Rotterdam, which Church attended, before screening at festivals around the world. The documentary later aired on Canada’s Super Channel and received a United States DVD release through We Got Power Films.

Directed by David J. Markey, 1991: The Year Punk Broke follows Sonic Youth on tour across Europe during a pivotal moment in alternative music. Although centered on Sonic Youth, the film inadvertently captured Nirvana’s transformation from a regional punk band into a worldwide phenomenon as the release of Nevermind approached.

For its official DVD edition, Kevin Church and AHiP Media performed the digital restoration of the original film and produced and authored the completed disc. Because original bonus material was an important part of the release, Markey returned to additional footage shot during the 1991 tour and edited it into a new companion piece, This Is Known as the Blues Scale. Church produced and mixed the featurette and produced several additional bonus features for the DVD.

Long delayed by complicated rights and approval negotiations surrounding Nirvana, the DVD was finally released in 2011—two decades after the tour it documented—and reached No. 7 on the UK Music Video chart.
